Just tested this by re-enabling my MM rule with 5.5b4 - here's the results:
1. It shows the splash screen and draws the window momentarily before moving the app to desktop 2
2. MM is now properly functional - it can open menus, windows, etc.
Seems like the feature to hide the momentary splash before moving was killing the app? To be honest, although not as visually pleasing, its better the way it is now, as at least MM is moved to desktop 2 and still works
