You certainly put your teeth in the subject 
With such a script Actual Window Manager would be started up EACH time Directory Opus starts up.
Just tested (manually) if this has consequences.
Keeping an eye on the task manager and running processes it looks like there are no tasks or processes added when starting up AWM multiple times.
So your script looks like a good workaround for bypassing the problem until AWM is updated :-P
Oh my, the favorites button not working annoyed me and slowed me down for so long... should have rung the bell way, waay back

I'm glad to notify you that the subject issue with Directory Opus has been fixed and the fix is available in and our other products as well.
You can update your program to the latest version (program's tray icon context menu > Info > Check for Updates) or download the latest version manually, install it and confirm the fix.
