OK, I think I found the cause of the issue.
It is caused by a monitor connected via displayport.
If the displayport monitor is turned off or in sleep mode, Windows OS thinks that it is disconnected/disabled. So many posts are seen in internet with this issue. That's why the virtual desktop is disabled after I turn off the monitor and turn it on.
So this is not something AWM can resolve, I think.
I will just re-start AWM after I resume the monitor/PC.

Did you try the current 8.3 beta 3 version of Actual Window Manager (download link - ) where our new Virtual Desktop Switcher is integrated in taskbars?
